Excellent video depicting a basic overview of sex offense laws. I personally would have preferred the use of the word “Registrant”, however given the context and potential general viewership, I totally understand. Thank you for the hard work in putting this together!
I understand your concerns and definitely struggled with finding a way to refer to people who were subject to these early forms of the registry, yet were technically neither “required to register” nor “registrants.” And since much of the legislation specifically used “sex offender”in the names of the legislation (which obviously couldn’t be avoided when referring to it) I finally resigned myself to using the terminology in the video. I get it… Person-first language is always preferable, but sometimes can be a little impractical. I appreciate the feedback, as always! – Michael
